Year round position, Supervision of up to 7 seasonal and 1 permanent employee,
- Administration, prepared and managed budget, payroll, financial reporting,
- Maintained database of 800 moorings in four mooring fields
- Administered pump out program with two pump out vessels
- Maintained three additional Town vessels, and
- Law enforcement of the major port on Martha's Vineyard

Successful captain for 12 years on various, creweed yachts (54' to 80') in the Caribbean.
- Responsible for all activities necessary to run vessels, including:
- Development and adherence to monthly budget projections
- All necessary billing, accounts payable, and payroll records
- Preparation of local and Federal documents as required by law
- Complete responsibility of crew management,
- Training & scheduling with the goal of achieving the highest level of guest satisfaction and safety.

John M. (Jay) Wilbur III has been helping with or managing boats since he started walking and talking. Johns I and II were yachtsmen before him.
His resume demonstrates the breadth of his knowledge and experience.
Now retired after 24 years as Vineyard Haven Harbormaster, Jay is devoting his time to all manner of Yacht Management, particularly with deliveries but also with maintenance and crew requirements.
As Jay’s life has always been about protecting boats from damage, he is also representing some marine products with that in mind.
Elastic Mooring Rodes
Responsible boat owners and mooring providers should be using elastic mooring rodes in this day and age. They have proven to be more economical over time.
- Wear is negligible as opposed to chain which begins to wear and corrode as soon as it goes in the water.
- There is no shock load when it comes tight; the elastic absorbs it.
- The shackles barely wear, particularly as we cover them with carbon fiber wrap and PVC pipe.
- Pendants don't wear much, either.
- All this adds to increased security against breaking loose. Chain moorings rarely last for more than 7 years.
- Periodic dive inspections are recommended, but even when inspections are not performed for some reason, these elastic mooring systems are often safe for two or even three times as long. Some have been in use for over 20 years.
Extruded in sturdy, resilient ionomer foam, our piling fender system is like tying up to a cushion. Wrapped around the front of the piling, the fender is fastened with half-inch lag bolts. Available in 6 foot lengths in virtually any color, these piling fenders are proven to hold up even in heavy use applications.
